Description of location

Landsberg am Lech,GKSt

Business Site Landsberg am Lech

Seldom is the symbiosis between Bavarian congeniality (Gemütlichkeit) and robust economic strength to be found so clearly marked as it is in the city of Landsberg am Lech, the seat of its administrative district.

In the administrative district of the same name, Landsberg assumes the functions of a mid-sized center and profits above all from excellent traffic connections. The metropolitan areas Munich and Augsburg can be reached within an hour by car via freeway A 96 and federal highway B 17.

In the past few decades Landsberg has developed by means of well elaborated re-structuring measures from a city merely consisting of public agencies and garrisons to a versatile business site. The range of businesses in Landsberg is many-sided and balanced. There is a fine mixture of native trades and high-tech as well as of tradition and progress. Thus in the industrial zones one can find representatives of many branches, from publishing houses to electronics to machine engineering; among these are also businesses that are worldwide leaders in their fields. It is one of the defined goals of the city of Landsberg am Lech to maintain and promote this mixture of various branches.

In order to be able to continue to offer real estate for expansions of existing local businesses as well as for re-settlements or the founding of new businesses, the city of Landsberg acquired sites of former barracks. For example, about 70 acres of commercial property are currently being developed successively in the Gewerbepark Frauenwald (industrial zone). This zone is located to the north of the municipal area in the immediate vicinity of the A 96 freeway. Real estate prices and the trade tax factor are being held attractively low. In the future as well it will be the economic policy of the city to assure stability with respect to contributions and the trade tax and to support financial relief for businesses.

Another site advantage that Landsberg offers and that ought not be underestimated is the process of obtaining a building permit. As seat of its administrative district, Landsberg is its own local building inspection authority and responsible for the issuing of building permits. Interested parties and settlers who are faced with a decision regarding a prospective site will find competent and non-bureaucratic contact persons in city offices.

Parallel to the setting aside of commercial sites, the city of Landsberg also offers attractive residential real estate in the developing areas Katharinenanger and Obere Wiesen. A high level of development is also exhibited in Landsberg with respect to education and training. A compact network of schools contributes to this, including two classical secondary schools and a technical institute and a vocational training school.

The city of Landsberg am Lech is fascinating not only because of its charming, scenic surroundings but also because of its uniquely historical city character. The founding story of "Landesperchs" can be traced back to the 12th century. Due to its favorable location on the salt route, Landsberg became one of the most prosperous cities in Bavaria during the late Middle Ages. The diverse history of the old city center still bearing the stamp of medieval times is present everywhere. Even those who are quite unaware of all historical contexts and simply want to enjoy the atmosphere of a medieval city, will be more than satisfied here. The city's rich calendar of cultural and other events is not only an attraction for its own inhabitants but also for guests from the surrounding region.
